The latest in mountain harnesses: Supair Radical 4

The Radical 4 from Supair is the new mountain harness from the French brand. Its modern, streamlined design retains the strong elements that made its predecessor, the Radical 3, such a success. It offers excellent in-flight comfort while remaining light and easy to use . As such, it's ideal for both leisure pilots and seasoned mountaineers looking for a technical product specifically designed for mountain flying and walking.

Radical 4 design

The Radical 4 features a foamed back and mylar-stiffened leg straps. Installation in the harness is easy. It provides great comfort, even after several hours in the air flying thermals or soaring.

In rucksack mode, new ergonomic shoulder straps and a removable waistbelt improve carrying comfort. For a lightweight pack, it allows higher carrying height. If the bag is heavier, it's better to opt for a classic carry. It also adapts to the rider's morphology. Indeed, the backrest is larger on the L size than on the S and M sizes. The bag gains in volume compared to the Radical 3. Its design allows it to accommodate a wing on the Leaf 3 Light model, a reserve parachute and a helmet.

It is available in 3 sizes ( S, M and L ) and is certified up to 120 kg, compared with the 110 kg of the Radical 3.

Pre-formed airbag module

The Supair harness offers the option of connecting a removable airbag module, making the harness reversible. This module incorporates a rescue parachute pocket under the seat. The subcutaneous airbag has undergone a few modifications compared with the Radical 3. Still preformed, this new model comes further forward of the harness and incorporates a snap ring in a more resistant material. It has passed certification tests, guaranteeing optimum passive safety.

The reversible version of the airbag gives access to a Roll-top rucksack, accessorized for the mountains. It incorporates numerous easily accessible pockets and features such as pole holders, an ice-axe holder and a camel-bag pocket.

The ready-to-fly M-size harness weighs 920g, and 2190g with the addition of the airbag module.
