The carabiner designed for paragliding

Developed in collaboration with AustriAlpin, the Neo Rockit automatic anodized aluminum carabiner has been designed to meet the specific safety requirements of paragliding.

Improved Neo carabiners

There have been a number of recent failures of automatic carabiners from various brands. The phenomenon of aluminum fatigue is responsible for these sudden breaks. This is the case with the "climbing" type carabiners commonly used in paragliding. As early as 2014, Neo detected this problem during a study carried out by the University of Savoie. The constraints of use are not the same in paragliding and climbing: in paragliding the tension is permanent and variable (loads and discharges).

In rupture tests, a carabiner not working in its preferred axis can lose 70% of its strength. As gliders and harnesses become lighter, manufacturers are using higher-performance materials to reduce the size of riser and harness straps. As a result, square or rectangular automatic carabiners were no longer able to cope with the diversity of these developments. Carabiners have an asymmetrical shape that adapts perfectly to all types of harness geometry and riser size. This asymmetry keeps the carabiner's stress axis on the axis with the best resistance.

Rockit carabiner features

The Rockit carabiner features a screw-cap closure. Made of anodized aluminum, it weighs just 63 g. The lifespan of a carabiner is 5 years, or 500 flying hours for seasoned pilots. Available in one size and in blue.
